Can you get chicken pox more than once in your life?

Yes: You can get chickenpox again as shingles which is limited to one nerve root on one side of the body. You also get a milder case of chickenpox if you had it a long time ago and your body's immune system decreases.

Chicken Pox: After you have had chickenpox, you are not likely to get it again. But the virus stays in your body long after you get over the illness. If the virus becomes active again, it can cause a painful viral infection called shingles.
