A member asked:

How common is esophagual cancer from long term gerd?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not very common: The risk of cancer is not very high. Most patients with this cancer in the us nowadays have gerd with barretts changes. However the chances of a patient with barretts getting cancer is about 0.5% per year- it is best to not ignore long term gerd and seek regular medical treatments and diet changes.
