Rarely, but may hurt: We mostly treat hydrosalpinx - a fallopian tube that is blocked at the end furthest from the uterus, swollen and fluid-filled - to improve fertility if 1-sided or both sides. Some women with a hydrosalpinx suffer from chronic pelvic pain, including painful intercourse, while others have no symptoms. A hydrosalpinx can get acutely re-infected causing pain and fever: pelvic inflammatory disease.
