Yes: Microdiscectomy which is removal of the herniated disc is a very rewarding procedure typically w/ excellent results on a patient who has failed conservative management. This is done on an outpatient basis w/ the patient typically returning to office work in few days & to full sports by 4-5 months.

Yes: Yes, when done for the appropriate indications as well as done on the right patient, it has a 90-95% success rate. Not being a smoker, obese, a "couch potato" as well as having no significant medical issues & having failed at least 8-12 weeks of non op care with imaging study demonstrating disc problem corresponding with symptoms & exam findings with arm or leg pain worse than neck or back pain.
