A member asked:

I have bilateral sciatica caused by a wide disk herniation impacting both the left and right l5 traversing nerve roots. my surgeon wants to perform keyhole surgery. is this possible with it being on both sides. ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes it is : If you cannot trust your surgeon, get a second opinion. A central disc should be able to be removed in this fashion without destabilizing the vertebra. Either discuss the surgical technique to your comfort, or get another opinion
