A member asked:

How are the hyperglycemia and lipidemia of insulin deficiency linked?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

2 birds, 1 stone : Insulin is the main hormone necessary to keep blood sugar from going high. It brings glucose into cells for fuel. With Insulin deficiency the cells can't get their fuel properly and sugar levels in blood increase. Insulin is also one of the hormones necessary in fat metabolism. Insulin deficiency will negatively impact fat storage and metabolism resulting in increase of free fatty acids, etc.
