Officially, not safe: Medications are not proven to be safe nor proven to be effective after their expiration dates. Of course, that does not mean bad things will surely happen if one takes expired biaxin (clarithromycin). If one has no problems taking good biaxin (clarithromycin), it is unlikely that a bad problem will happen with recently expired biaxin (clarithromycin). Expired tetracycline, however, has been known to damage the liver.
