Not exactly: For what people call "ringworm", the medical name is tinea corporis, and the treatment is Lotrimin AF (or a similar antifungal). The lotriminaf is over-the-counter. For tinea versicolor, which is different from tinea corporis, and looks more like lots of little spots on the oilier parts of the body (usually the trunk, neck, face), one can use the 2.5% selenium sulfide lotion or shampoo.

Agree with Dr. K: You may try the shampoo, if it does not improve the situation in a week or so, it would be prudent to see a doctor for a proper diagnosis and treatment.
