Worry not about this: The pieces may cause you some discomfort/pain at the site of injury, but not going to cause problem elsewhere. If it is close to the skin, there is a chance of it being pushed out as your skin heals and sheds etc...If it is deep, it may stay in place and get "scarred-around" and may not bother you if small enough. If larger, it may cause pain on walking. Keep clean, dry. Consult doc. Good luck.

No, they stay put: This is glass, and will stay as glass, not get absorbed into the body aside from locally at the foot, possibly creating some fibrous scar tissue as encapsulation. You might have occasional pains, if you step on the existing piece of glass the wrong way, or push it or touch it. Many people coexist with bullet-fragments embedded after a gunshot, and glass is a less dangerous version of the same.
