It depends: The type of stone is the issue. Uric acid stones are related to gout and a high purine diet. Thus a low purine diet is recommended; that would mean reduced meat and shellfish intake. If calcium oxalate stones are culprit then a low oxalate diet is indicated. Iced tea is a big contributor to dietary oxalate. Generally any stone former should drink much water: at least 2 liters daily.
