My mom had a root canal performed two ago and a week after she ended up hospitalized with a bacterial infection in her blood. she is currently still in the hospital on iv antibiotics and they said she will be on them for 3 weeks. should the antibiotics

Be continued at home: Your mother's doctors will decide how long she needs I.V. Antibiotics based on the strains of bacteria cultured and the symptoms and response to the antibiotics. Now a days many I.V. Antibiotics can be administered at home as long as the patient is medically stable. After I.V. Antibiotics are stopped, antibiotic pills may be recommended.

Root canal and body: Teeth that need root canals are infected the root canal manages the infection within the tooth, if the infection was significant it could continue as a systemic issue.
