Hba1c which is more accurate finger stick or vein sample?

Apples & oranges: A1c measures the amount of hemoglobin that is glycosylated which is roughly correlated to mean blood sugar over a 90 day period? A finger stick is a real time measure of actual blood glucose. They both have great value in managing diabetes.

The same Hba1c: Some young kids prefer to get their hba1c by finger stick instead of vein. When it goes to the lab the result is the same no matter where the blood came from. Poc hba1c often done by finger stick in the office may not be as accurate as the result from a lab.
