Go to ER: Any severe abdominal pain should be evaluated on an emergent basis. Kidney stone, appendicitis, bowel obstruction incarcerated or strangulated hernia, etc. They all need evaluation and management as soon as possible.

Possible: Having swelling would be uncommon, but indicative of something that may need immediate medical attention. You might have a kidney infection, but there are other possibilities. Nonetheless, you should have your physician evaluate you immediately.
