Supportive care: Rest, avoiding heavy lifting and excessive twisting can help. Ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatories are often helpful. Heat or ice may help as well. Gentle stretching and strengthening exercises for the core back mucles can help as well. It may take several days to week for a sore back to be relieved.

Most are self limit: Most just get better with time, activity modification and heat or hot showers combined with light exercise and cardiovascular exercise. Otc medication can help as can life style changes like weight control, regular exercise and avoiding smoking. Good sleeping habits and a good mattress make a difference .Make sure you have good vitamin d intake and calcium intake.
