Other possibilities: Some feel this disorder may be a migraine equivalent, and treat it with triptan drugs like sumatriptan (imitrex) and zolmitriptan (zomig). You could discuss this possibility with your physicians. Tricyclics like amitriptylene & nortriptylene (that you say you're allergic to) are mainstay treatments. If these don't help, could possibly consider acupuncture or classical homeopathy treatments.
