How do you know if you have a swollen lymph node?

You cannot always: If it is near the surface of the skin you can feel it with your fingers. If it is tender or painful this will guide you to the site. There are lymph nodes, however, all over the body, and many are not perceivable or detectable by the individual in whom they are enlarging.
