A member asked:

What is happening inside the lungs to the steroid inhaled regularly if it is not absorbed systemic.?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

% of ICS's absorbed: Assuming that you are referring to inhaled corticosteroids for asthma or copd, what gets into the lungs is absorbed systemically and ultimately inactivated by the liver. The amount of steroid absorbed is usually small enough to have minimal risk of systematic adverse effects. As with all medications the benefit/risk profile needs to be considered.
