Depends: It depends on how you were feeling at the time. Being short of breath or having chest pain or persistent fever are possible reasons to go to ER. However, if you call your doctor, they may be able to arrange that you get a chest X-ray done without an ER visit to check for pneumonia. I recommend calling your doctor to discuss. Best wishes.

Depends: If you are significantly short of breath then you need to go to the ER. Viral bronchitis takes 7-10 days to resolve. The treatment he gave was appropriate but it does take time. If you are breathing normally and not breathless when you walk or talk but just coughing like crazy, there may not be much else that can be done. Good luck
