Specializes in Psychiatry

Psychiatrist: Psychiatry is an extremely rewarding experience, especially as you learn more & more about the dynamics underlying human behaviors & thinking, applying such knowledge to help patients gain better insight into their emotional conflicts & learn to cope, instead of thye stigma of "it is all in your head. Snap out of it". Seeing patients with chronic problems heading towards recovery, is best reward.

Career Choice: Personally, i find my work exciting, fun, and meaningful. The experience of a psychiatrist varies by work situation (inpatient, outpatient, private practice, public system, insurance or private pay, treating chronic or new mental illness, academic setting, administrative, etc). In this field, you daily can make a difference to people's mental and physical health & well-being, adding to your own!

Yes.: While it may take a long time, it may be worth it if you like to help others improve their lives by conquering their mental demons. As a psychiatrist you will be learning, studying, diagnosing, and treating mental disorders from a medical standpoint in order to enrich the lives of your patients. If that sounds like you, then psychiatry is your calling.
