Synthetic vs pig: Synthroid is levothyroxine (t4) produced synthetically. Armour thyroid ( armour like the hot dog) is a mixture of tri iodothyronine (t3) and T4 extracted from pig thyroid. Both products are used to treat hypothyroidism.
