Better to move: The movement causes the leg muscles to contract moving blood up and out of your lower legs. Also recommend "support stockings" if you are really worried about varicose (swollen)veins.

Neither: Standing by itself does not necessarily predispose you to blood clots. Immobility is the main risk factor that has been in the news lately, related to a blood clot forming due to stasis of the blood in the veins when you aren't moving. It you have to stand for a long time, or sit for a long time, make sure you are moving your legs periodically.
