Ok to Wait: Gbs rarely causes problems for the mother--sometimes a bladder infection (which i would treat). But it is dangerous for the baby, and they can get it during labor. So the science says to treat during labor. If the gbs test was from your last pregnancy, your doctor may do one at about 36 weeks to see if you are colonized for this pregnancy. For a + urine test or previous affected infant, we treat.

Unlikely: You are colonized with this bacteria and that makes the baby more prone to gbs sepsis after delivery, acquiring it during transit thru the vaginal barrel during delivery. Your OB surely explained this and will treat you during and through labor and delivery.
