Let doctors decide: You can not double guess the doctors who are treating him terminal cancer patients immune system is compromised and they are prone to serious life threatening infections. At times we have to use combination of antibiotics to cover all the possible organisms and still the responce can be poor.So let the doctors decide what needs to be done.

Make him comfortable: How aggressive do you/does he want to be if he is terminal? I assume he is in a hospital. Antibiotics may not work because he is immunosuppressed from cancer and/or chemotherapy. Lots of tylenol (acetaminophen) to reduce fever, morphine to relieve breathing and chaplain for prayers. Unfortunately, at this stage very little else will work, or else will prolong suffering. I am sorry.
