Or other doctor: Yes. Have it examined for residual wood in your heel. You may need the heel numbed and any left over wood removed. Also a tetanus shot and more antibiotics if necessary. It would be easier and cheaper if you go to a doctor's office, but an er is okay if that's all you can get into.

Is it still stuck?: If the doctor stated that the wound is still stuck in your foot, you need to get it taken out, otherwise an infection will set in. Make sure that you don't walk on that part of the foot, otherwise the piece of wood can go in deeper into the tissues. Get to the er to have it looked at and/or have a podiatrist/surgeon take it out.

As long as the: Piece of wood remains in your heel, it will not completely heal. The piece of wood needs to be removed. You may be able to wait to get into a podiatrist's office to have it taken care of more comfortably. If you can't wait, or if you are developing a fever, then by all means go to the er.

The wood needs : To come out. I am not sure why it was not removed by the doctor that saw you. The wood is acting as a foregin body and causing an infection. Try a podiatrist's office if still open or an urgent care center, but if no place is open go to the er.
