A member asked:

My obgyn told me after cryosurgery to have protected sex so not to reintroduce the hpv virus to the new cells? so does that mean it's gone i'm confuse

It's gone, for now: The cryosurgery was done to destroy the areas of the cervix that have undergone changes caused by hpv. Whether it is successful will be determined by follow-up pap smears. Since the virus is sexually transmitted, you can easily get exposed again by having unprotected sex if your partner also has the virus. It won't make the original virus come back, but it can expose you all over again.
