Immediately: You can chew solid food immediately but you will likely want to or be instructed to avoid chewing in the surgical area for 1-2 weeks. Your surgeon will make recommendations based on your condition.

It depends: If it is only one side, i tell patients they can chew solid food on the unaffected side the next day. Follow your doctors instructions.
