Classically silicone: But it is my impression that implants are being used less frequently in the face as fat grafting becomes more predictable. Cranial bone has also been used as well as medpor (porous polyethylene), but, in my opinion, any time you can use your own tissues you are ahead of the game. See a plastic or facial plastic surgeon to investigate your options.

Plastic and fat: Plastic implants made of a solid silicone as well as porous implants that look like synthetic coral have been used. Your own fat can be transplanted into this area as well. A new injectable filler called sculptra is also used frquently.

Cheek Implants: I prefer to restore volume to the cheeks by the use of either cosmetic fillers or stem-cell enriched fat grafts. If fat grafting is the chosen method, I take fat that has been liposuctioned from other areas of the body and inject it into the cheeks to resculpt their appearance.
