Citalopram Usage: Citslopram is a medication used to treat depression. It is in a class of drugs called ssris, or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. These increase the serotonin in the brain, an important chemical in the brain.

Citalopram: Celexa (citalopram) is an ssri type of antidepressant, used for depression as well as anxiety disorders, in combination with psychotherapy.

Celexa (citalopram): I agree with dr. Williamson, but also add that ssri's are used to treat anxiety.
