Sometimes: Assuming you are seeing an orhodontist, yes, it is possible that your initial treatment may actually look worse. As the crowding unravels, spaces may appear where there were previously none. Don't worry, it will all get fine tuned toward the end of treatment.

Yes: Many times the orthodontist has to create space in order to overcome the crowding, rotations, or other obstacles. The appearance of getting worse may be ok. Remember to asks questions and dont miss those monthly visits.
