Not likely: It is not likely that you get only a few teeth bracketed and receive braces. This is because an orthodontist will need to do more than just move teeth of your interest. The doctor also has to make sure the moving teeth will engage other teeth in better functional position and alignment. This is why when only upper is crowded, you still get braces for both upper and lower arches.

Braces: Depends what your trying to accomplish. There's a lot of physics on moving teeth around. Usually need anchor teeth in back to move front teeth around much. Can do some movements without back teeth but with little control or finess.

Talk to orthodontist: It is important to talk to your general dentist and orthodontist about your goals. This will help you establish a treatment plan so that you can have the smile you are looking for. Limited tooth movement can be done in some cases. Sometimes invisalign can be done if you don't want to wear metal braces. Veneers may also be an option. Your dentist can help you find what will work best for you.

Ask Orthodontist: Partial treatment is often more challenging and less effective than complete treatment. Ask an orthodontist for an evaluation. The orthodontist will work with your restorative dentist to resolve your issues efficiently and to your satisfaction.
