My psychologist thinks i should take paxil (paroxetine) for my anxiety and depersonalization. what does he know?

But you have a bigger problem. You have doubts about your psychologist, but i gather you haven't addressed them with him/her directly. You need to do that. Asap. If s/he cannot have a constructive discussion about your concerns, then find someone else.
