No period: The definition of menopause is a year without a menstrual cycle. Often times in the time period around the menopause, women will begin to experience hot flashes, insomnia and lengthening of their cycle or erratic menstrual cycles. Sometimes decreased libido or vaginal dryness can accompany these changes as well.
