Strep throat & mono: The symptoms of strep throat and mononucleosis overlap =sore throat, fever, tiredness, loss of appetite, stomachache, nausea and vomiting. Strep throat is treated with antibiotics and patient's condition improves within 24 to 48 hours. Mononucleosis is caused by the epstein barr virus and is not hepled by antibiotics. The above symptoms will persist until the virus runs its course.
