Usually in children: Although it is possible for acute sinusitis in adults to result in serious complications, they are more common in children. The complications arise from the location of the sinuses, For example, the upper border of the maxillary sinus and the ethmoid sinuses are next to the orbit (eye) and orbital abscess and orbital infection can occur. The frontal sinus may rarely lead to a brain abscess.
