It can: Craving is a very powerful urge that is difficult if not impossible to resist with out proper support. It seems as though craving will be added to the next dsm manual as a symptoms of alcohol dependence. With that said the word crave and "addicted" are often used terms by people and advertisers and in this sense its not addiction. But to have strong irresistible cravings for alcohol is a concern.
