1-2 Days: There are few things as anxiety-provoking as waiting for a biopsy result to return. If prioritized appropriately, there is no reason why the result should take more than 1-2 (working) days. Please ask this before the biopsy.

2 days: Most centers need at least 48 hours to process the slides and give complete information of the type of cancer and additional information on the receptor status.

24-72 hours: In most cases, results from a biopsy are back in 1-3 days if it is a core needle biopsy. Surgical biopsies (which should not be the first option) take 5-7 days.
