Menopausal symptoms: The most common side effects of tamoxifen include hot flashes, changes in menstrual period, vaginal dryness, headaches, fatigue, and GI upset. Less common but more serious side effects include blood clots, strokes, uterine cancer, and cataracts.

In breast can er treatment, the overall improvement in distant recurrence and survival is related more to tamoxifen than chemotherapy. Common side effects are hot flashes, increase risk of developing blood clots and uterine cancer.
