A member asked:

Can people hear throughout a grand mal seizure?

Yes and no: The term grand mal should not be used. A partial seizure may occur with the patient fully aware of all that happens. A complex seizure involves alteration of awareness, but significant aspects of the event may be remembered. Primary and secondary generalized seizure are dramatic and memory is often lost before, during, and after the event. They may appear aware but are not.
