A member asked:

Can bone fusion be delayed?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Usually: Fusion is a major procedure. In many cases it is elective, meaning that you do it if your problem is severe enough and not responding to lesser alternative. There are conditions (like instability putting pressure on the spinal cord or spinal nerves) that should not be delayed. In those cases, delay may lead to irreversible loss of nerve function. Talk to your provider.
