A member asked:

I have a granddaughter very over weight is there some sort of pill or drink prescription wise i can get her doctor to prescribe thats safe. help?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No magic pill: You're right that it's a good idea to talk to her doctor, but there's no magic pill that will make people lose weight. It takes eating the amount of food appropriate for a person's needs and getting physical activity every day. Ideally, the whole family should be included in discussions about diet and exercise. It will only hurt the effort if she feels stigmatized because of her weight.
