Is it possible to tell of benign breast tumor from cancer by feel?

No: While some lumps may feel more worrisome to a trained professional, it is easy to get fooled. The only way to differentiate a benign lump from a malignant one is by looking at tissue under a microscope, a biopsy. This can be safely and easily performed under local anesthesia either in your breast doctor's office or a breast center.

Can be difficult: There are features that suggest cancer rather than a benign mass such as hardness, lack of mobility, irregularity, and proximity to other structures. Most cancer cannot even be felt. Mammography, ultrasound, or MRI can also suggest a cancer, but only a biopsy of the tissue can determine that for sure.

No: No, you can not tell whether it is benign or malignant tumor by feeling the tumor. Only biopsy and direct visualization under microscope are the only thing that can differentiate whether it is benign or malignant.
