A drainage bag.: A nephrostomy tube is placed through the skin of the flank, to drain urine from the kidney. This is usually due to some kind of obstruction of the kidney or ureter. This tube leads out and drains to a drainage bag. Several types of bags exist, usually with a "luer-lock" connector that fastens to the tube. Other bags used by interventional radiology such as bile bags may be used.
