How long does it take to recover from a lumpectomy?

Days: Surgical removal of a breast lump is an out-patient operation often performed under twilight anesthesia in less than one hour. Most women may return to fulll activities, including sports and exercise, within one week.

Within 1 week: It is an outpatient procedure so you will go home the same day. Most patients experience some soreness and swelling. However by the next day, you are functional and able to take care of yourself (brush your hair, cook). Just no vigorous exercise or heavy lifting for about 1 week.
