Depends on what type: Albuterol mdi's may cause a bad taste for some but shouldn't cause oral problems. Steroid mdi's or powder units can cause oral problems like yeast infections (thrush), throat irritation and hoarseness in kids or adults but also, rare effects can include mild osteoporosis, cataract and glaucoma development, mood changes, weight gain and extremely rare - cushing syndrome.

Possible: Asthma inhalers that contain steroids can make you more prone to oral, throat, or respiratory infections because the steroids suppress your immune system. It is best to rinse your mouth and gargle with an antiseptic mouthwash, and brush your teeth after using such an inhaler.

Asthma inhaler: If you are using a steroid inhaler, you need to wash your mouth and/or brush your teeth after everytime you use it, as the steroid may cause oral thrush and occasionally cavities. The bronchodilators, such as albbuterol do not have such effects.
