Yes: If you have a bulge that gets bigger when you cough or bear down like you are having a bowel movement, you may have a hernia. They may or may not be associated with pain. The best test for a hernia is an examination by a general surgeon.

Look : Look at the area you have concern and see if there is a bulge that can be pushed in. Usually is pretty obvious.
