Depends: The combination of hiatal hernia and acid reflux creates the risk for precancerous changes in esophagus, aspiration pneumonia and other complications. Okay to set up an egd soon. Then depending on the results, the next egd interval will be set by GI doc. Be well and take your medications, antacids.

Hiatal hernia: If you have no symptoms of gerd and your biopsy on egd was normal, you probably only need an egd every 5 years or less. If you had severe esophagitis on egd, you should have it checked every 1-2 years to make sure you don't develop barrett's esophagitis.
