Bad stuff: Your heart rhythm is normally a carefully coordinated event that has a natural progression electrically to create an effective forceful heart beat.
When you have 3rd degree block, it's completely discordant (ie nothing is working together) . When the different parts of the heart are doing their own thing without communicating properly, it's life threatening and requires a pacemaker

Third degree: Third degree av block is complete interruption of conduction from atria to ventricles. The ventricular rhythm is usual junctional escape though it may be idioventricular with rates less than 40bpm.
