A member asked:

Will nasonex (mometasone) help remove my "allergic shiners" (circles under eyes)?

Possibly: Allergic shiners are the result of passive congestion of a venous plexus because of nasal congestion. Allergic shiners, while typical in allergy, are not always caused by allergy. If one is allergic then use of nasal steroid spray may be helpful to reduce them.

It may be helpful: It may help to reduce swelling and congestion in the nasal passages which is associated with allergies. Saline rinses and gently blowing your nose in a tissue may also help. Discuss the possible triggers of your symptoms with your physician and keep a log of exposure to triggers for your visit. For example, does exposure to a dog make your allergic symptoms worse>
