Depends: Most experts agree that adhd should be treated to decrease the risk of drug abuse, nicotine abuse, academic failure, financial catastrophe, poor/failed interpersonal relationships, job failure, poor self esteem, motor vehicle accidents and citations, unwanted pregnancy, and felonious activity. The jury is out on depression, but a study showed less brain cell death in treated depressed patients.

Not necessarily: It is important to find a doctor who will try to find the came of the adhd or depression symptoms. My motto is "find the cause and fix the problem, don't just cover symptoms with drugs. Adhd drugs & antidepressants will treat the cause.

MAYBE: You have a right as a patient to not agree with the diagnosis or the treatment. The severity of the illness will determine the need for the treatment. Depression untreated can be lethal with possible suicidal thoughts. Also. Productivity loss. The adhd untreated depends on the severity and whether you can use behavior or coping mechanisms to overcome. Can have problems with driving if distracted.
