Few ways : But figuring out the cause is the key. So, elevation of legs while at rest, compression socks or stockings when walking. Do you have varicose veins? Are you taking any medication some as a side effect can cause swelling.

Elevate: First find the cause. It can be caused by many things some minor and some serious. I suggest you be evaluated by your pcp.

Depends on diagnosis: Some causes of swelling of the feet can include systemic problems such as hypertension, and problems with the kidneys and localized issues such as arthritis, infection, lymphatic obstruction, blood clots, varicose veins, trauma (fracture, sprain, tendonitis) and side effects to medication. Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.

Depends on the cause: Swelling can be caused by many things (liver, kidney , heart diseases, and blood clots are the serious ones). Everyday, reversible non-serious causes are meds (motrin and similar, calcium blockers, hormones). If you don't have a health threatening condition, limiting salt intake (sodium) and keeping your feet elevated will help.
